Sisterhood

The Sisterhood of Congregation Ezras Israel meets once a month for regular board meetings. We have several regular activities during the year including a Conservation Brunch in August, as well as several Oneg Shabbats during the year with featured speakers to make our members and guests aware of the world and people around us.

To aid us financially, the Sisterhood also operates Jewel days as well as a Chai raffle book. One of our best activities is the Happy Day Cards. These cards have recently been completely redone. They are sent out by Kathy Harris and can be sent for any occasion or memorial.

Sisterhood hosts Sweet Singers, a chorus of our members who practice monthly on the 1st Wednesday of each month. They perform at the synagogue as well as community functions. Leona Molotsky is their talented director.

We also sponser a New Years Greeting Card mailed before the High Holidays. We have been treated to breakfasts with Abraham Lincoln as well as an annual muder mystery dinner in cooperation with the Mens Club. Our year also has a Mothers Day dinner, and a culminating luncheon as well as sidetrips to plays and exhibits in the Chicago area. Also, in the past we have had fashion shows for children as well as adults.

Beside the obvious social advantages of belonging to the Sisterhood, the members raise a significant amount which is donated to the Schul to aid in keeping dues low by subsidizing operating costs.

Dues are $20 a year and the friendship is priceless. If you would like to join us please call the Sisterhood Presidents to answer any questions you have and for the date of our next meeting.
